Bright Midwinter : MUSIC
“Winter is the season of recovery and preparation”
A little project Graham and I have been working on this last month as our little Christmas present to you all; our reimagining of 'In The Bleak Midwinter'.
We have used the well known melody from Gustav Holst’s version and reharmonised it. As our version is a completely instrumental to give it a bit of winter sparkle we have added a harp intro, interlude and outro.
The idea behind the piece was to write a Christmas lullaby that focuses on all the beautiful things that midwinter brings; sparkling snowy landscapes, beautiful patterns in the frost, clear night skies full of stars and the magic of the Aurora. Essentially a re-framing from bleak to bright.
