Introducing The Imaginarium

The World is but a canvas for our imagination
— HENRY DAVID THOREAU

While I was studying at Trinity Laban I discovered that I really enjoyed writing music that told the story of an imagined scene or happening. Sometimes the story came first and sometimes it would emerge out of the opening notes of a piece and inform the rest of the composition.

I have always loved fairy tales and fantasy stories and as the daughter of a classically trained ballerina (and keen dancer myself) I grew up surrounded by the wonderful stories and beautiful music from the classical ballet repertoire. All of which fuelled my very vivid imagination.

Over time I found myself writing pieces of music inspired by my favourite stories and ballet music. These pieces continued to evolve with each one I wrote and before I knew it, I had started writing ballets based on my own fairy tales. I love getting lost in these imaginary worlds that my mind creates and telling their stories with the colours of an orchestra. This is how the AYANE Imaginarium came to be.

It will, in time become the home of all our creative projects, which will weave together so many threads from things I love; music, stories, ballet and illustration. I can’t wait to share them with you.

Each project is a fairly epic undertaking and will take a considerable amount of time to complete. Therefore we will be sharing a journal for each project where we will post updates and snippets of our scores, sketches and stories so you can follow our progress as we create each one. These will be located at the bottom of each project page.
