The first breakthrough occurred during a beautiful woodland walk with Graham, as we discussed our shared desire to get to work on the score for the Vale of Araluen and explore our themes in more depth.
I had the idea to create a recurring character in our series, who would allow us to create music in a manner akin to how films and TV series are scored. Each story would give us the opportunity to evolve and develop the character’s leitmotif in different ways—such as colouring the harmony to fit the tone of the story or changing the rhythm to suit the mood, other characters or setting.
